2013-02-12 Chulilla, Muro De Las Lamentaciones   Leave a comment

Only three relatively easy routes today but all 35mtrs and all super.  A long approach but worth it.  Half in shade we warm up on the difficult 6b, Yorkshire Pudding and then I do the frankly amazing Mi Gozo En Tu Pozo, 6b+.  For my money, it would have been easier to warm up on Gozo and then do Pudding, but as I onsighted them both, there was no harm done.  It’s just that the start of the 6b was thin, and at the moment it has good adhesion – I’d not like to do it once it has been buffed up to a marble-like polish, which seems to be the Chulilla tendency.  I finish with a flash (onsight, really) of the first line in the sector, the brilliant 6b+, El Infierno De Las Hortilizas.

El Infierno De Las Hortilizas, 6b+

I manage to kick down a huge chunk of rock with my left foot when a foothold breaks, but no problem.  Fairly sustained climbing most of the route, though it does have three distinct hands-free rests throughout, with the crux coming at the top roof.  It’s a beauty.

Virgin wall to the left of the sector.  I might have to invest in a drill!
