Tremadog’s Upper Tier is a gentle outing – there’s usually groups of novices, school kids and scout troups in this neck of the woods as the grades are easy (maximum E1 6a) and there’s easy access to setup top-rope anchors at the top of the 24 mtr high crag.  But a gentle outing is what is needed today, after fending off a bout of the ManFlu.  We start with the very nice Central Arete, S and go on to Bulging Wall, HS 4a.  The adhesion is great and the gear placement is fairly bomb proof.  As more people arrive we open the excellent Quatre Fois Direct, VS 4c and there’s enough time for the gold standard, to tick the daddy route, Meirionnydd, E1 6a.  It has a stiff start, leading to easier climbing on brilliant adhesion.  The middle was a bit damp.  The upper section is around VS.  Recommended.

S   HS 4a   VS 4c   E1 6a
